Link+ Information

LINK+ is a free service which allows Stanislaus County Library customers to borrow books and media not available in our catalog from academic and public libraries in California and Nevada. LINK+ is a combined catalog of over 9 million unique items.

LINK+ Catalog

  • LINK+ is a union catalog of contributed holdings from participating libraries in California and Nevada.
  • Authorized customers from member libraries can electronically request an item not available in their own library and it will be delivered to their local library for them for check-out.
  • LINK+ may be accessed directly at csul.iii.com or while using the library online catalog.
  • Books and media may be borrowed if they are listed as "available" in the union catalog.
  • Requested items will be received in the local library in four to seven days.
  • Books and some media will be held for up to 10 days. Selected media will be held for up to 5 days.
  • Books are checked out for 21 days, and may be renewed, unless requested by another customer. Some media (books on CD and DVDs) may be borrowed for 7 days. Materials that check out for 7 days may not be renewed.
  • There is no charge to request or borrow LINK+ materials
  • Pick-up notices are sent by email. If you do not have an email address on your library account, you will need to provide one to be notified of your LINK+ holds.
  • LINK+ users can have 5 items on request and 5 items checked out at a time.

Important:

  • The overdue fine for items returned after the due date is $1 per item, per day.
  • The replacement fee for lost or damaged Link+ items is up to $115 per item.

Making a Link+ request

  1. First search the Stanislaus County Library catalog. If Stanislaus County Library doesn’t own the item you want to borrow, click on the Link+ hyperlink at the top of the catalog search results page.
  2. The search term will be carried over and the search will continue in the Link+ catalog
  3. When you locate the item, click on the ”request” button.
  4. If the book is available, you will be asked “with which institution are you affiliated?” Scroll through the list and select Stanislaus County Library.
  5. In the next step, fill in your name, barcode, PIN (last four digits of the phone number on your account.) and select the branch where you wish to pick up materials.
  6. The requested item will be sent to the branch you selected.

Renewing a Link+ item

  1. On the Catalog menu, select Link+ Account Login and enter your name, library card barcode and PIN (last 4 digits of phone).
  2. If you have items on hold, use the link below your name and email address to toggle to your checkouts page.
  3. When you locate the item, click on the ”request” button.
  4. Click the “renew” button.
Note: Renewals are not automatic. A request is sent to the loaning library. You must check your Link+ account at a later time to see if the renewal request was approved.
  5. When you check Link+ for information about your renewal request, the status will display next to the original due date.

Checking the status of a Link+ request

  1. Go to the Link+ My Account Login page and enter your name, library card barcode and PIN (last 4 digits of phone number on file).
  2. Status will indicate requested, ready, or in transit.
  3. The library will notify you via email only when the items are available for pick-up. You will have 10 days (5 for some media) to pick up items before they are returned to the lending library.
