What is Traveling Tales?
The Stanislaus County Library circulates storytelling kits to those who serve children aged 0-5 in Stanislaus County. Each kit
is based on a theme and contains 6-10 story books, a set of activity cards or flannel board pieces, a puppet, a music CD or tape, fingerplays and instructions. After enrolling in Traveling Tales, these storytelling kits
are available for check out from any of the Stanislaus County
Library’s 13 branches.

Traveling Tales Goals
Regular
storytimes enhance preschoolers’ pre-reading and verbal skills,
better preparing them for success in school. Our main goal is to encourage program participants to make
storytime a regular activity. We
do this by providing the materials and training needed to conduct
a storytime in their facility.
Who Can Participate?
At present, only currently active Traveling Tales participants may borrow the kits. To join Traveling Tales you must complete a training at which time you will receive a library card that is limited to checking out only Traveling Tales Kits. A limited number of small workshops will be presented in the near future. If you are interested in joining Traveling Tales fill out the contact information below:
