Hair Tie Bracelets
Where: Hughson Library

Have fun making chain bracelets out of basic hair ties. Books will be available for checkout.

 

Earth Day Craft Supply Exchange
Where: Modesto Library
When: Saturday, April 25
         12:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Bring your unwanted, unused crafting supplies (in good condition only) and trade with other crafters. Drop off items from April 20, 2015 to April 23, 2015 at the Modesto Library Reference Desk to receive your swap admission ticket. Then join us on the exchange day to find treasures for your crafting projects. Enjoy light refreshments and learn about library resources. Reducing, reusing, and recycling unwanted items help promotes the health of the community and of our natural resources.

 

As You Like It

Shakespeare for All returns with a staged reading of one of Shakespeare’s classic comedies, As You Like It. Join Rosalind, Orlando, Celia, and Touchstone as they escape to the forest of Arden in Shakespeare’s classic comedy focusing on love, loss and redemption. Community members will present a 60 minute performance alongside San Francisco Shakespeare actors in a hilarious rendition of the enduring comedy, As You Like It. Find the Super Heroes

Book Guessing Jar

Come in sometime this month to guess which book is in the jar. Guess correctly for a chance to win a prize.

 

Star Wars Day
Where: Keyes Library
When: Monday, May 4
         3:00 p.m.

May the Fourth be with you. Come celebrate Star Wars at the Keyes Library. Participants can play a find and seek game to receive a Star Wars pin. There will also be an assortment of Star Wars themed crafts available. Participants are welcome to come in costume, however, costumes are not required.

 

Star Wars Week

There will be a variety of activities during the week:

  • Monday, May 4 - May the 4th Be With You - Book drawings all day long. Ask at the Children's Desk, Reference Desk, or check out Facebook for more details.
  • Saturday, May 9 at 12:00 p.m. - Cosplay your favorite Star Wars character and March around the Library.
  • Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. We “Hope” you will stay for the 1977 classic that started the epic adventure a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

 

Family Game Day

Join us for games and crafts at the library. All ages are welcome. Games promote sharing, working together, and problem solving skills.

 

Glittered Card Craft
Where: Denair Library
When: Thursday, May 7
          2:00-4:00 p.m.

Select from one of several designs and make a glittered card just in time for Mother's Day. Books will be on display and available for checkout.

 

Paper Rose Craft
Where: Oakdale Library
When: Monday, May 11
          10:30 a.m.

Make gorgeous paper flowers out of recycled books or origami paper. Books will be on display and available for checkout.

 

Perler Bead Craft
Where: Hughson Library

Unmasked Teen Summer Reading Party
Where: Hughson Library

          3:00 p.m.

Come make buttons, edible metals, and superhero bookmarks. Books will be on display and available for checkout.

 

Villains Invade Summer Reading
Where: Keyes Library
When: Tuesday, May 19
          3:00 p.m.

Defeat these villains with your reading abilities. Stop by to celebrate the start of the Summer Reading Program with a Villain-themed party. Participants can pose as several Disney and comic book villains in our photo booth area. There will also be villain-inspired crafts, including scratch art. Children, tweens, teens, and adults can also sign-up for our annual summer reading program where participants can win prizes just for reading. Cake and refreshments will be served.

 

Feats of Flight: Butterfly Art

Make a lovely colorful "tie-dyed" butterfly and learn about their interesting transformations.

 

As Seen on Pinterest
Where: Turlock Library
When: Wednesday, May 20
          7:00 p.m.

Join us the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Turlock Library as we make popular arts & crafts as seen on Pinterest. This month we will focus on greeting cards for special occasions. This class is recommended for ages 14 and older. Registration is required. Space is limited.  Please call 664-8100 to register. Pinterest is an online tool for collecting and organizing things you love.  You do not need to be familiar with Pinterest to attend.

 

Superhero Summer Reading Party
Where: Turlock Library

         1:00-3:00 p.m.

It's a fantastic "Marvelous" start to our Summer Reading program. Test your skills at our Superhero Training Camp and you can make your own miniature superhero to go. Lots of different activities and refreshments.

 

Superhero Necklaces, Magnets, and Key Chains
Where: Keyes Library
When: Wednesday, May 27
          1:00 p.m.

All ages are invited to the library to make unique necklaces, key chains, and magnets featuring their favorite super heroes.

 

Craftapalooza for Teens and Adults
Where: Modesto Library
When: Saturday, May 30
          1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Escape the ordinary this summer by making fun, creative, and innovative crafts at the Modesto Library’s first Craftapalooza for Teens and Adults. Stop by the Modesto Library Auditorium anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. and visit the various crafting stations. This program is geared towards teens and adults and parents are asked to accompany children.

 

Free Knitting and Crocheting Classes
