Teen Tech Week
Where: All libraries
When: Monday, March 8 - Friday, March 12
       All open hours

Test your tech skills know-how by participating in three quizzes. The teen with the best scores will receive a special prize. Teens will be introduced to the library and information about technology.

 

Shrinky Dink Keychains
Where: Denair Library
When: Friday, March 12
        3:00 p.m.

Learn to repurpose everyday plastic into a very cool shrinky dink keychain. Make one for you and make one for a friend. This craft will coincide with Teen Tech Week. Teens will learn about the many types of technologies available at the library.

 

Button Making Craft
Where: Hughson Library
When: Saturday, March 13
         Noon

Come have some fun making cool buttons to wear or share. Library books will be available to browse and to check out.

 

Teen Tech Week Movie
Where: Patterson Library
When:  Saturday, March 13
          1:00 p.m.

In celebration of Teen Tech Week, teens can enter the world of the computer in this 1982 classic. This movie was one of the first to use computer graphics and is notable for its use of lighting and optical effects. Movies of this sort not only stimulate creativity, but are also notable as part of the history of films and filmmaking.

 

Teen Game Night
Where: Patterson Library
When:  Wednesday, March 17
          5:30 p.m.

Our Teen Game Night will have card, board, and Wii games, as well as food, prizes, and a lot of fun! Teens will have the chance to browse and check out books from a collection of books themed after Teen Tech Week.

 

World Wide Game Day
Where: Modesto Library Auditorium
When: Saturday, March 20
         Noon-4:00 p.m.

Teens! Come play Dungeons & Dragons at the Modesto Library and check out what's new in the roleplaying universe. Games give teens a chance to practice reading, writing, and computing in the library’s safe environment. Roleplaying games are immediately engaging and make them work hard to succeed and ‘level up by developing new strategies, predicting possible outcomes, managing multiple resources, reading and deciphering maps, tracking complex statistics, and adapting to increasingly difficult levels within the game. They can learn a range of media literacies beyond basic reading that give them models for navigating our information-rich world.

 

"Everything Old is New Again" Craft
Where: Ceres Library
When: Wednesday, March 24

         3:00 p.m.

CD and DVD cases, paperback book covers, duct tape and other "found objects" will be used to make a variety of purses, wallets, photo frames, etc. Books on crafts and recycling will be available to browse and to check out


Teen Game Night
Where: Patterson Library
When:  Wednesday, April 21
          5:30 p.m.

Our Teen Game Night will have card, board, and Wii games, as well as food, prizes, and a lot of fun! Teens will have the chance to browse and check out books from the collection.

Bandana Totes
Where: Ceres Library
When: Wednesday, April 28
        3:00 p.m.

Teens will make attractive totebags using bandanas and cording. Craft books will be available to browse and check out.

 

Free Knitting and Crocheting Classes
Where: Waterford Library
When:  Wednesdays 
          3:00 p.m.

Knitting and crocheting are a blast.  Check out all the cool stuff you can make.
