Summer Reading 2011
June 1 - August 15
at your local Stanislaus County Library branch
|

|
|
Kids earn prizes for
reading! |
How Summer Reading works:
- Kids from birth to 6th grade can get a reading log at any Stanislaus County
Library branch.
- Use the reading log to keep track of every DAY that they spend at
least 20 minutes reading, or having someone read to them.
- After 7 days of reading, kids can bring their reading log (signed by a
parent) back to the library to collect a prize.
- Any child who finishes the whole reading log (28 days of reading) will
also receive a certificate of completion.
- Last day to pick up a reading log is Saturday, July 30.
|
Details:
- Any type of reading material counts: books, magazines, comics,
newspapers.
- Each day of reading counts, even if the days are not consecutive (a child
does not need to read seven days in a row to earn a prize, he just needs to read
seven days total).
- Kids can repeat the program once they have finished a 28-day reading log.
- Kids may set their own goals of how much time they will read each day, more
than the 20-minute minimum.
