A perfect way to spend winter break. Pick up a log and follow the directions. Once you get BINGO you can pick a prize. Only one log per person please. Children 12 and under. Perfect for school-aged readers. For more information call the Modesto Library Children’s Department at 558-7810.

Read to a Reindeer

Read to a Dog

Independent readers ages 4-12 can sign up to read to a dog. Enjoy reading to a trained support dog and receive warm tail-wagging approval and appreciation as you do. Registration is required. Please call the Ceres Library at 537-8938 for more information or to sign-up.

Children ages 4 -12 can participate in our winter reading program. Each child can read 5 books to receive a prize. After reading 5 books children will also be entered into a drawing to win a Razor scooter. Children can read up to 15 books for a total of 3 prizes and 3 entries.

Glow in the Dark Geometry: Crazy 8s Math Program

Make geometric shapes using glow sticks. Lay out the sticks to make mystical repeating patterns. This program is for preschool age children only. Crazy 8s math program helps promote early mathematical skills in a fun hands-on way.

Snowball Guessing Jar

Guess the number of fluffy white snowballs in the jar and win a prize. There will be three categories: up to 12 yrs of age, 13-18, and adult. Winners will be announced on December 16.

Toilet Paper Olympics: Crazy 8s Math Program

Toilet Paper Olympics: Bet you never knew sports and toilet paper could go together, huh?  Get on a roll with your Olympian skills in the shot put, the long jump, and the relay race. This program is for preschool age children only.

Marshmallows: Crazy 8s Math Program

Send marshmallows flying through the air using popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Figure out what positions work best, then measure the flight to prove it. This program is for preschool age children only.

Building STEAM with Día: Grow a Crystal Tree

Join us for the reading and discussion of Snowflake Bentley by Martin, J., followed by an experiment and a "Grow your own crystal tree craft." This program is geared to students in Kindergarten - 3rd grade and their families. Refreshments will be served. Building STEAM With Día is sponsored by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC).

This program is a part of the Salida Library's Tuesdays Are Family Days series. Children can come in their pajamas. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on.
