Scoot into Reading

Children ages 4 -12 can participate in our winter reading program. Each child can read 5 books to receive a prize. After reading 5 books children will also be entered into a drawing to win a Razor scooter. Children can read up to 15 books for a total of 3 prizes and 3 entries.

Frozen Party

Do you love Disney's Frozen? Stop by the library for a Frozen-themed party. Children can make snowflake wands, make a picture of Olaf, play a snowball toss game, and test their Frozen knowledge with a quiz. Snacks will be served. Participants can come in costume, however, costumes are not required.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Glow in the Dark Geometry
Tuesday, January 20

Children in Preschool through 5th grade can stop by the library to make geometric shapes using glow sticks. This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Perler Bead Craft

:Children, tweens, and teens can stop by the library to make unique designs using perler beads.

Crazy 8's Math Club: Let's Get Loud
Tuesday, January 27
3:00 p.m.

Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade can make a pan flute out of milkshake straws, yell into a decibel-meter to find out how loud they are, use random items as musical instruments, and use math to make fun rhythms. Preschoolers will also have fun during this time with our Toilet Paper Olympics program. Preschoolers will participate in a relay race with toilet paper unfurling off a paint roller. At the end, the winner will be mummified and we will count the squares. This program helps build math skills through fun activities.

Bouncy Dice Explosion: Crazy 8s Math Program

Your big chance to throw things because you’re supposed to. Find out your chances of rolling a 2 or a 5, then try to be the winning chip on a giant human Bingo board. This program is for preschool age children only.

Building STEAM with Día: Grow a Crystal Tree

Ages: 5-8 or Grades K-3

Join us for the reading and discussion of Snowflake Bentley by Martin, J., followed by an experiment and a "Grow your own crystal tree craft." This program is geared to students in Kindergarten - 3rd grade and their families. Refreshments will be served. Building STEAM With Día is sponsored by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC).

Family Dinner and Movie Night

Children and their families can enjoy a family-friendly movie and picnic dinner at the Library. This month's return movie is the popular Disney hit, Frozen. This program is a part of the Salida Library's Tuesdays Are Family Days series. Children can come in their pajamas. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on. The library will provide a beverage and popcorn. Books will be displayed and available for checkout.

Book-n-Craft: Chicka-chicka Boom Boom

You’ll go (coco-) nuts as you chant along with this rhyming story and make your own alphabet coconut tree. We’ll even have a nutty song to sing together. Books on crafts will be on display and available to check out.
