Be a Super Reader Bingo Game
Tuesday, April 1 - Thursday, May 1

Children can participate in the Be a Super Reader Reading Bingo Game. Participants can read for 15 minutes in each square and receive a prize for each column completed. All children who reach blackout will be entered into a drawing to win a Batman backpack filled with superhero goodies. The winner will be announced on Superhero Day on Thursday, May 1.

Plant a Seed and Read

Plant a Seed and Read. Gardeners of all ages are invited to participate in a community seed swap at the Keyes Library on Monday, April 14 from 3 to 5 p.m.  Swap seeds with fellow gardeners and learn tips on how to grow and save your own seeds. During the seed swap, children will also have an opportunity to plant their own seeds in a container and take it home with them to watch it grow.

Superhero Day

Be a super reader. Celebrate reading with Superhero Day at the Keyes Library. Stop by the library to take a picture with Batman, make a superhero mask, and pose as your own superhero. Games and prize drawings will take place throughout the afternoon. Cake and light refreshments will be served while supplies last. Sponsored by the Friends of the Keyes Library.

Family Dinner and Movie Night

Children and their families can enjoy a family-friendly movie and picnic dinner at the library. This month's movie is the animated comedy, Gnomeo and Juliet. Children can come in their pajamas. Book 'n' Craft with Dr. Seuss

Enjoy a jolly romp with Dr. Seuss as the Salida Children's Librarian reads And To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street, with flannel board piece illustrations. After the story, children will create "spy glasses" to make discoveries in their own neighborhoods.

Read to a Dog
Tuesdays: May 6, 13, and 20
3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Children who can read independently can sign up for a 15-minute time slot to read to a dog in the Library. The dogs are trained and certified therapy dogs and are accompanied by a handler. Reading out loud is an important developmental skill. Reading to a dog provides a comfortable, non-judgmental environment for the child to read out loud. Bring your own book or choose one from the Children's Department. Sign-ups are required and begin on Tuesday, April 15.
