Rowling, J.K.         Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
In this seventh and final book in the series, Lord Voldemort is preparing for battle and so must Harry. With Ron and Hermione at his side, he's trying to hunt down Voldemort's Horcruxes, escape danger at every turn, and find a way to defeat evil once and for all. 

Salisbury, Graham.         Night of the Howling Dogs
This is an exciting adventure story about a group of Boy Scouts caught on Hawaii's Big Island during the earthquake and ensuing tsunami of 1975.

Schmidt, Gary.         Wednesday Wars
Seventh grader Holling Hoodhood has a tough year ahead of him. First of all, his teacher Mrs. baker, keeps giving him the evil eye. Second of all, the class bully keeps threatening to do Number 167 (and you don't even want to know what Number 167 is). Third of all, his father keeps calling him the Son Who is Going to Inherit Hoodhood and Associates.

Selznick, Brian.         Invention of Hugo Cabret
Orphan, clock keeper, thief: Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. Combining elements of the picture book, graphic novel, and film, Caldecott Honor artist Selznick creates an entirely new reading experience in this intricate and spellbinding mystery.

Smith, Roland.         Peak
Adventure readers will want to read this tension-filled story of a 14-year-old boy's attempt to be the youngest person to reach the top of Mount Everest.

Spinelli, Eileen.         Where I Live
This is a reassuring story in verse about a young girl who must say goodbye to her home and her best friend when the family is forced to move away. 

Thompson, Kate.          The New Policeman
When 15-year-old Irish fiddler J.J. discovers that time is leaking out of our world into the fairy world, he finds a way to travel to the fairy world to set things right.

Wilson, N.D.         Leepike Ridge
Presumed dead after drifting away down a river, Tom finds himself trapped in a series of underground caves with another survivor and a dog, and pursued by murderous treasure-hunters.
