As part of public service and
information, Stanislaus County Library makes display space available for art at
certain library sites. This space is
provided at no expense to the exhibitor. The
display space is open to members of non-profit organizations engaged in
educational, cultural, and intellectual promotion of art.
Providing
display space for view by the public does not constitute library endorsement of
the art work displayed. The library
is not a museum or art gallery and all art displayed should be of acceptable
viewing content for all ages.
Stanislaus
County
library reserves the right to determine in its sole discretion what art
work will be displayed as well as scheduling, duration, and assignment of
display spaces. The decision of the
County
Librarian
on what artwork will be displayed in county libraries shall be final.
The
exhibiting owner or agency may display art work for the number of days specified
by the department in charge of the display area. Displays should be removed on or before the last day specified. The exhibiting owner or agency is responsible for removing the display at
the time specified. If the display
is not removed by the time specified, the library has the right to remove the
display.
Displays may
not be publicized in a manner which suggests library sponsorship or endorsement.
The
exhibitor must post their agency’s name and phone number for contact should
anyone be interested in purchasing any of the art work.
The library
takes no responsibility nor assumes any liability for art work on display and
will require all individuals and organizations setting up displays to sign a
form releasing the library from responsibility. The exhibiting owner or agency will be held liable for any damage to
library property resulting from mounting or removing display.
Customers
concerned about the art work displayed are welcome to fill out a Materials
Selection Inquiry form or voice those concerns with the
County
Librarian
.
